A group of Americans, mostly members of the Ostfriesen Genealogical Society of America (OGSA), visited Aurich and joined the Upstalsboomgesellschaft (UG), a guild of genealogists, residing in the library of the Ostfriesische Landschaft - a kind of parliament of Ostfriesland at the end of the Middle Age and later, having the counter part to the counts and later princes of Ostfriesland, being deputies of the knights or noblemen of Ostfriesland and deputies of the free towns of Ostfriesland and, at last, deputies of the free Frisian farmers. This parliament is still existing and includes representatives of the towns and cities of Ostfriesland, the county and other groups as well and is still an important factor for cultural affairs in Ostfriesland. After researching the files of UG the group got a guided tour through the entire library which is the follower of the library and archives of the counts and princes of Ostfriesland. Books are stored here from the end of the 30-Year’s-War in 1648 up to modern press releases concerning Ostfriesland anyhow today. Here the pictures:
