Ähnlich wie der Plytenberg in Leer ist der Arendshügel in Ostgroßefehn keine frühgeschichtliche Grabanlage.

Der leitende Kanalbau-Ingenieur Arend Hoppe ließ im Jahre 1835 diesen Hügel anlässlich der  200-Jahrfeier Großefehns aus Kanalaushub des inzwischen bis dorthin reichenden Großefehnkanals aufschütten.

Eine Gedenktafel am Fuße des Hügels ist den hervorragenden Leistungen der Gründer des Fehns und seiner Bewohner gewidmet.

Vom Gipfel des Hügels hat man eine wunderschöne Aussicht über das Fehn.

Großefehn feierte im Jahr 2008 sein 375-jähriges Bestehen.

Similar to the Plytenberg in Leer the Arendshügel (Arend´s Hill) at Ostgroßefehn is not an early historical grave hill.

Leading canal construction engineer Arend Hoppe let this hill pile up in the year 1835 on the occasion of the 200-years-anniversary of Großefehn. The hill is made of excavation of the canal which reached to this point in 1835.

A memorial board at the foot of the hill is dedicated to the outstanding achievements of the founders of the Fehn and its inhabitants.

From the summit of the hill one has a beautiful view over the Fehn.

In 2008 Großefehn celebrated its 375th anniversary.
